Black & White photograph at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark in Dayton, Ohio
Day two of the Black & White professional photography challenge. This photograph was taken at sunrise at the Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark in Dayton, Ohio. It was a very foggy morning in September. I pulled up the gravel road and saw these trees with the sun rising from the behind them. I have driven back to this location during the day and I can’t imagine the photograph because it’s just a field with a few skinny trees.
Young Family Portrait
Professional photographers are being challenged to post black & white images for consecutive 5 days. Here’s my first images. This is a young family that came in for baby and family portraits. They had a 3 month old and a 2 year old. Any professional photographer can tell you how challenging photographing a 2 year old can be. So I posed the Mom, Dad and baby, I have a one foot tall box that gets used for all sorts of things. I asked the little boy who was running around the studio to jump up on the box and look at his brother. I made three exposures and this one came out perfect. The Mom & Dad liked it so much that the purchased a 16×20 framed print. What a blessing to have this image displayed in their house for a long time to come.

Studio Photograph of Twin Home Grown Tomato
There’s a song by Guy Clark called “Home Grown Tomatoes” and it applies to this years crop of my backyard tomatoes. They have been big and bountiful. There’s nothing in the world that I like better than home grown tomatoes. I saw this one growing and hoped it would turn red before the squirrels took a bite out of it. I picked it yesterday and wanted to memorialize it properly. So I did a session this morning with my newest, biggest, ugliest, reddest home grown tomato. It came in at 1.625 lbs. and I’ll enjoy it tonight for dinner.
Newest Little Miracles Baby Portraits Member
I want to thank Jaycie’s Mom for bringing her in for her three month baby portraits. Jaycie’s Mom signed up for the First Year Little Miracles Baby Portrait series. The Portrait series include four photography sessions starting at 3 months when the baby is holding their head up. Then 6 months when they are sitting up. The 9 months when they are standing up and then on year. The proud parents who sign up are never disappointed and many start crying when they see their photographs. I can’t wait to see her back at six months when she’s sitting up.
How to get a beautiful high school senior portrait
I want to thank Olivia for coming in to fill out her modeling portfolio. The trick to getting beautiful photographs done is just a little planning. First, make sure to bring more than enough clothing changes. That way I can look at your selections and let you know what will photograph the best. Next don’t go heavy on the make-up. Less is more in photographs and you want to look as natural as possible. Let the photographer do their job with lighting and then retouching. Finally, don’t be nervous. Relax and work with the photographer. As long as there isn’t a rush, which at this studio there never is a rush because each person receives at least an hour photo session, you can be your self.
High School Senior Boy Outdoor Portrait
A good friend of mine asked if I could take his son’s high school senior portraits. His son is great at golf and baseball. Two sports that are dear to my heart as well. I talked with the senior boy’s mother to come up with a plan and to find out exactly what they wanted. I always like it when my clients have interesting ideas and I get to go above and beyond the normal “high school senior portrait“. Her idea was to go to the exact places that he spent the most time during high school, the West Carrollton High School baseball field and Pipestone golf course in Miamisburg Ohio. She wanted good portraits, not action shots and she had the idea of trying to tell a story showing her son with both sports. I like it when my clients asks me to stretch my imagination. I also like when my client tells me I accomplished exactly what she wanted and more. Thank you for letting my tell your son’s story in a photograph.
